Florencia, Caquetá: In a major triumph for the Ayacucho Plan, the Sixth Division of the National Army secured the rescue of two minors and the voluntary surrender of a suspected member of the Armando Ríos First Front, a remnant armed group operating in Caquetá.
Over the past three days, soldiers apprehended the individual in Florencia. He expressed a profound desire to rejoin civilian life and reunite with his family, seeking support from the government’s Humanitarian Attention Group for Demobilized.
“This surrender,” stated an Army spokesperson, “represents a significant blow to these criminal organizations that terrorize communities with violence and disrupt peaceful lives.” The Armando Ríos First Front has been linked to homicides, drug trafficking, and clashes with other armed groups, leading to human rights violations and breaches of international law.
The rescued minors are now under the care of the Family Welfare agency, receiving support to ensure their rights are protected. The Army emphasized its unwavering commitment to upholding human rights and international standards while dismantling criminal organizations that endanger public safety and well-being.
