In a tragic turn of events, Colombian troops from the 6th Mechanized Infantry Battalion Cartagena, affiliated with the Tenth Brigade of the Colombian Army, engaged in a firefight with narcoterrorists of the Clan del Golfo in the rural area of Riohacha, Guajira, on the morning of January 13, 2024. This operation was a crucial part of their constitutional mission aimed at tackling criminal organizations.
During the intense combat with narcoterrorists, the brave soldiers, First Corporal Elkin Campos Pulido and Professional Soldier Robinson Pushaina Uriana, were killed. Additionally, a Non-Commissioned Officer and a Professional Soldier sustained injuries and are currently undergoing specialized medical treatment.
The First Division Command swiftly activated internal protocols to provide support and assistance to the families of the fallen soldiers and the injured personnel. The Military Unit is preparing to file necessary complaints with the judicial authorities to address this criminal act.
