The Office of the Ombudsman has raised concerns about the escalating presence of dissident groups from the FARC, specifically the Central High Command and Second Marquelia factions. Additionally, local gangs are reportedly on the rise. ‘Iván Mordisco,’ the leader of the self-proclaimed Central High Command, has ominously threatened increased hostilities following the cessation of a ceasefire.
In these regions, where illegal groups vie for territorial dominance, they frequently impose their own rules, creating an environment where non-compliance leads to threats and harm against the local population. The investigation into this recent massacre is ongoing, as authorities work tirelessly to uncover the perpetrators and motivations behind this devastating act. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent challenges faced by communities in these conflict-ridden areas and the urgent need for comprehensive efforts to address human rights violations.
