Tuluá, Valle del Cauca – A quiet Monday holiday turned into a horrifying scene as a family fell victim to a brutal attack in the rural outskirts of Tuluá. The incident unfolded in the Campoalegre district during the early hours of July 3, 2023, leaving a trail of sorrow and prompting swift police action.
According to eyewitnesses, a man, identified as Jhon Freddy Córdoba Mosquera, allegedly entered the home of his former partner armed with a firearm. In a chilling act, he opened fire on those inside, including his ex-wife, her sister, and two young girls aged eight and three.
Tragically, the young girls succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to the hospital. The victims were later identified as Yulieth Chamorro (the mother), Margot Chamorro (the mother’s sister), Hellen Córdoba Chomorro, and Dulce María Córdoba Chamorro.
Mayor Jhon Jairo Gómez disclosed that the family hailed from the Pacific coast of Nariño, and authorities have launched an investigation to unravel the motives behind this heinous act. Despite no prior reports of abuse, it was revealed that the assailant had not been residing in the house for the past month.
Following the crime, Córdoba Mosquera attempted to evade the authorities on a motorcycle. However, a meticulous police operation, including a lockdown of the area, led to his location. In a confrontation on the Zaragoza – Cartago road, the aggressor resisted arrest and lost his life in the ensuing exchange of gunfire.
