In a devastating incident that unfolded in the Rincón del Lago neighborhood of Soacha, three family members were brutally shot and killed by unidentified assailants, shedding light on the ominous presence of criminal organizations in the area. The incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, July 1, casting a somber shadow over the community.
Reports suggest that the owner of a local tire shop was targeted for extortion, with perpetrators demanding payment. Upon the individual’s refusal to comply, the assailants returned later, brazenly entering the establishment and launching a violent attack on everyone present. The victims of this heinous crime include a father and his two sons, one of whom was a mere 15 years old.
Eyewitnesses describe the alleged hitmen as three men, believed to be of Venezuelan nationality, who swiftly fled the scene after indiscriminate gunfire, leaving the neighborhood on edge. The victims have been identified as Orlando Jácome Nieto Ospina (59 years old), Yeisson Orlando Jácome (20 years old), and B. Jácome (15 years old).
Emergency services rushed all three victims to the Cardiovascular Hospital of Cundinamarca. Regrettably, two arrived without vital signs, while the third, despite being initially admitted for surgery with a critical prognosis, he died hours later.
Disturbingly, locals assert that this tragedy is not an isolated incident. Numerous residents have spoken out about the pervasive presence of criminal gangs preying on traders in Rincón del Lago, coercing extortion payments in exchange for purported security services. Additionally, community members express a prevailing sense of fear and emphasize the urgent need for heightened law enforcement presence to curb the escalating criminal activities in the area. The tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of communities facing the menace of organized crime.
