In a shocking turn of events, a brutal massacre unfolded in the rural outskirts of Santa Marta during the early hours of Monday, October 2nd of 2023. Three lives were tragically cut short, and two individuals sustained injuries during a gathering that turned into a scene of horror.
The victims were attending a party inside a cabin along the route from Santa Marta to the Teyuna Recreational Center when armed assailants, heavily armed, stormed the venue and opened fire on the unsuspecting attendees.
The crime, occurred at 12:20 a.m., claimed the lives of two individuals within the cabin, while a third victim was found 150 meters away, having apparently attempted to escape the violence.
Among the deceased, Manuel Alejandro Vera Cabarcas, 32, known as “El Cacha,” was discovered in the cabin’s swimming pool. Another victim, Andrea Trujillo Reyes, a student at the Cooperative University of Colombia in Santa Marta and the manager of a sportswear company, had ties to a local social leader, Luis JoaquĂn Trujillo, who tragically lost his life in 2019 in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
The third fatality, Elkin RĂos Osorio, originally from MedellĂn, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds after reportedly opening the cabin gate, according to authorities.
The identities of the two injured individuals remain unknown, as they receive medical attention in healthcare facilities in the capital of Magdalena. The community is left in shock and mourning as investigators work diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding this senseless act of violence.
