Local Authorities Investigate Suspected Retaliation Between Criminal Groups
In a grim turn of events, the mayor of Venecia has confirmed the brutal murder of three individuals in the Bolombolo district of Antioquia. The incident is reported to have taken place along the banks of the Cauca River, marking another distressing chapter in the ongoing violence plaguing the region.
The victims, consisting of two men and one woman, met a tragic fate. Notably, one of the individuals had faced legal repercussions in recent months for involvement in various criminal activities.
Colonel Carlos Andrés Martínez, the commander of the Antioquia Police, commented on the situation, stating, “The investigative line suggests a possible settling of scores between local criminal structures and those from Medellín for control of the trade.”
The bodies, yet to be formally identified, were discovered on the riverbank and exhibited wounds indicative of bladed weapons. The incident underscores the perilous consequences of ongoing disputes between groups engaged in illegal activities in the municipality.
