Three people were murdered in Pitalito, Huila: seven massacres already in 2024

In a disturbing development, Pitalito, Huila, witnessed a triple homicide, marking the second massacre in the department as the country grapples with a surge in violent incidents. This incident is attributed to the dissidents of the FARC, who had previously claimed the lives of three other individuals in the region.

The security crisis in Huila is deepening, evident by the occurrence of two massacres in the proximity of Pitalito within a week. Authorities point to the involvement of FARC dissidents in ending the lives of six men in two separate instances of triple homicide.

The triple homicide in Pitalito contributes to a grim statistic, bringing the total number of massacres in the country to seven within the first 23 days of 2024. Huila has witnessed two of these incidents, while Valle del Cauca, Cesar, and Putumayo have each experienced one.
