Colombian Air Force Takes Swift Action to Combat Sierra Nevada Wildfires

In response to an alert issued by the National Center for Personnel Recovery (CENRP) and the National Risk Management Unit (UNGRD), the Colombian Aerospace Force has sprung into action to tackle the ongoing wildfires in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

The 3rd Combat Air Command has deployed Bell-212 helicopters equipped with the Bambi Bucket system, enabling precise drops of water and retardant to suppress the forest emergency.

A total of 2,226 liters of water and 3 liters of retardant have been strategically discharged to quell the spreading blaze.

With a commitment to addressing this urgent situation, the Colombia Air  Force has mobilized all available aerial resources and skilled crew members. The objective is clear: collaborate in the collective effort to protect the safety of Colombians and preserve the diverse wildlife and flora in the affected region.
