In a significant operation against the narcotics trade in Chocó, Colombian Navy and Colombian National Army troops, part of the Joint Task Force “Titán,” have successfully located and dismantled seven illegal laboratories dedicated to processing coca base paste. These labs were reportedly linked to the “Pablo José Montalvo Cuitiva” substructure of the Organized Armed Group known as “Clan del Golfo,” operating in the region.
The military operations, conducted along the Atrato River in the vicinity of Carmen del Darién, Chocó, revealed seven rudimentary structures functioning as production hubs for coca base paste. Inside, authorities discovered 186 gallons of coca base paste in various stages of processing, 30 kilograms of coca leaves, 1,628 gallons of liquid precursors, 170 kilograms of solid precursors, and 7 makeshift mixers.
Following established protocols, the labs and the materials found within were meticulously destroyed in a controlled manner.
This strategic strike by the Armed Forces directly impacts the criminal economies of the “Clan del Golfo” Organized Armed Group. Moreover, it disrupts a critical link in the cocaine production chain, as coca base paste serves as the primary ingredient for crystallizing this illicit narcotic. The operation signifies a significant step towards dismantling the drug trade infrastructure and curbing the activities of criminal organizations in the region. Authorities continue their unwavering commitment to combating illegal drug production and trafficking.
