Colombian Army Captures Five Members of “Comandos de Frontera” in Putumayo Operation

In a recent operation, soldiers from the Sixth Division of the Colombian Army, specifically the Jupiter Stabilization and Consolidation Command, engaged in combat with the “Commandos de Frontera”, resulting in the capture of five individuals associated with the illegal armed group. The encounter occurred in the Santa Rosa de Juanambú village of Puerto Caicedo municipality, located in the Putumayo department.

This successful operation, supported by two helicopters from the Colombian Navy and additional air support from the Colombian Air Force, including the AC-47 aircraft, led to the apprehension of the suspects and the recovery of significant weaponry. Among the confiscated items were four rifles, a pistol, and six sets of combat equipment. Additionally, 25 anti-personnel mines were safely destroyed during the mission.

However, the operation was not without casualties, as one soldier sustained injuries during the engagement. Swift action by combat medics ensured his stabilization before he was evacuated from the area and transported to the High Complexity Hospital in Puerto Asís, Putumayo, for further treatment.

Following standard protocol, the captured individuals, along with the seized weapons and equipment, were handed over to the appropriate authorities. The National Army emphasized its commitment to upholding human rights and international humanitarian law, demonstrating professionalism in their operations aimed at protecting both the Public Force and civilian population.
