Colombian authorities continue their offensive against drug trafficking organizations in La Guajira. In a recent operation conducted under the Ayacucho Operational Plan, soldiers from the Tenth Brigade seized a staggering 1,000 kilograms (2,205 pounds) of marijuana.

Acting on intelligence reports, the operation targeted a suspicious vehicle in the El Tablazo village of San Juan del CĂ©sar. When soldiers from the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 2 attempted to pull the vehicle over, it fled. After a brief pursuit, the occupants abandoned the van. Upon inspection, authorities discovered a significant amount of cannabis hidden inside.

The seized marijuana, estimated to be worth over $800 million pesos (approximately $200,000 USD), has been handed over to relevant authorities for legal proceedings. This operation highlights the Colombian military’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in La Guajira and disrupt their funding sources derived from the sale of illegal narcotics.
